Walmart, walmart, walmart….

I’m not writing this bash Walmart in anyway but mainly give my readers the courage to SPEAK UP when you know something is right:

Going to try to make this short and sweet… I went to Walmart to 12/31/2010 to redeem a my “$3 off the purchase of all EAS products” coupon”. This was a SUPER hot coupon since they had the single protein bars priced at $1.50, so I would end up getting this item for FREE (Overage is not allowed at Walmart!). I went to redeem this coupon at the Cashier in the Garden’s section but the cashier said ‘Oh wait, we cant take this coupon since it the item is only $1.50’. She scanned the coupon but decided to call a supervisor anyways. 5 minutes later… I had her ring my apple juice and informed me/decided to head to the main cashier counters inside the store. I wanted to give this a second try… once again ‘Sir, we can’t accept this coupon since it exceeds the value of the product’. Yet again, I gave the lady my spiel that ‘Walmart does accept coupons above the value of the product, all you have to do is adjust it down’. She went ahead and brought the floor supervisor (Yay, maybe we will get it right this time!). I told her situation and I clearly explained, I don’t want the remaining the $1.50, just simply adjust the coupon down and give me the product for FREE (they’ll end up getting reimbursed for it anyways!). So the floor supervisor at Walmart, yes the FLOOR SUPERVISOR AT WALMART, told me ‘No, no we can’t take this. We don’t take coupons that exceed the value of the item. We have never taken coupons like that’. I promptly said, “Are you sure? If I call customer service on Monday and find out I was right I will be slightly ticked because this coupon expires tomorrow.” She said “Yes!”. I asked for her name and left…

Guess what I did on Monday y’all? Called Walmart Customer Service at 1-800-925-6278 lol. Spoke to a lady and asked her if Walmart accepts coupons that exceed the actual value of the product… she sounded dumb founded. She asked me if I had any issues trying to redeem the coupon at my local store… I said “Yes”… she said what did they say?. I thought to myself… wait I want an answer before I tell you what anybody said because I didn’t want to tell her they said “No, they don’t accept these kinds of coupons” and have her tell me the same thing lol. I politely said, that I would like answer to my question before I discuss my issue. She yes ‘Walmart accepts ALL coupons…. unless they don’t scan.’. Basically told her my issue and she said they should have taken it. I gave her some store and personal info, and she said someone would get back to me in business 3-5 days.

Well hello, my local Walmart called me 2 days later (I’m truly impressed!) and I quickly told her my situation. The manager said, “Well she was wrong” and went on to say that we take coupons that exceed the value of a certain product. She was nice enough to ask if I would like to come in and redeem the coupon but I declined.
Sorry, that was long… anyways, I knew I was right and I took the proper steps to better inform myself, Walmart associates and hopefully make it easier on many Walmart couponers out there.

The manager also informed be Walmart is currently working on a guide to better inform their associates on coupons and she told me that Walmart carries competitor ads (who are within 5 miles or known), so you NO longer have to bring ads to get a price-match. Also, she confirmed that WALMART DOES ACCEPT “FREE” AND “BUY ONE GET ONE FREE” INTERNET PRINTABLE COUPONS unless they do not scan for whatever reason.

If you ever run in to any coupon issues at your local Walmart, feel free to call their Customer Service line at 1-800-925-6278. Hopefully some positivity came out of this post…

New to couponing … only 3 weeks in … and so frustrated with Walmart … have printed out the coupon policy and carry it with me always to Walmart … it says that it accepts Store Coupons … tonight I took several Publix coupons that were cut from the back of their sale flyer today to redeem … but the manager would not accept them saying they couldn’t take them because it didn’t have a bar code on it. The coupon policy mentioned nothing about that … I told him corporate needs to make that clear on their policy … heard him tell the cashier that I was right … needless to say I did not make a purchase at Walmart tonight … I went across the street to Publix and did my shopping … so confused?
