Remember the BARNES & NOBLE: *HOT* HP TouchPad for ONLY $101 (down from $499) + 6% Cash Back! post which was posted on 8/22/11? Well if you ordered the TouchPad, your order was likely canceled due the staggering demand for this product at this awesome price. You may have not scored the TouchPad but many readers received the following email titled “Your HP TouchPad Order: A note from John Foley, President BN.com”:
Dear Roland,
This past weekend, BN.com experienced a technical inventory error for the HP TouchPad combined with an unprecedented customer demand for its newly discounted price. Unfortunately, this generated more customer orders than we had inventory, resulting in our canceling some customer orders, including yours, as we notified you earlier this week. If there was a pending authorization against your debit or credit card for the order, we have worked to quickly reverse that no later than today. You will not be charged for this order.
I want to take this opportunity to offer our sincere apology to you as a valued customer of BN.com. We care deeply about serving our customers, and in an expression of our commitment to you please accept the $20 Barnes & Noble eGift Card below for any inconvenience this may have caused.
The card can be used for any merchandise available at BN.com or in any of our bookstores.
We look forward to serving you again in the future.
Sincerely,
John Foley
President, BN.com
We’d love to know, did you receive this email too? What a way to make up for this confusion. Props to B&N!

Yes I got mine – will hubby did but I took to use for books on my nook.
Better snag it quick if you are going hard copy books. BN is going to shut down soon.
I haven’t heard anything about B&N closing down. What do you mean?
Thanks
Sorry, got B&N confused with Borders. Eek!
Nope I never received mine. I had called customer service on Monday to see about my order and the rep said I had one for sure since I had an order date. 15 minutes later I get a cancelation email. Wish they would give something because if the system would have said sold out I could have bought it elsewhere. I just the lesson here is buy more than one and sell what you don’t need.
Completely ridiculous! So to add insult to injury they give “some people” the $20 credit and some (most?) people DON’T get it?
I called customer service and she suggested that I contact “[email protected], except, oh yeah, I did emailed them on the 22nd and have heard nothing back!
I got one…I wish they had given everyone one though!
Nope didn’t get the $20.. and it took them 2+ days to get my money back into my paypal account.. They cancelled my order then 24 hours later my money was “released”
grief…
nope only email I got from them was telling me they cancelled my order for the HP touchpad… which I’m glad I didn’t get cause I hear people are having problems with them
