Toys R Us Cancels Operation Toy Story 3 Orders & Gives $5 Gift Code

I’m sad to say, it looks like Toys R Us has cancelled nearly all orders for the Operation Toy Story 3 ONLY $1 at Toys R Us (no longer available) post, which was back on 11/6. Earlier this week, I received a cancellation notice simply because they didn’t expect to receive any more. I was really disappointed because like many people I only ordered 1, and would have hoped they could fulfill, at least my one order. With some people and certain bloggers shouting to order 40 toys, this was expected. They admitted to trying to reaching the manufacture for more units of this toy, but were unsuccessful.

Luckily, earlier tonight Toys R Us sent out a unique $5 off $5 code to make up for disappointed, which was a great effort on their part, because essentially, they really didn’t owe us anything. Were any of you able to score this toy? Did your order get cancelled too?

i bought mine in the store that day and there were tons as soon as you walked in

MY daughter had asked for this for Christmas so I got up early on that Sunday and went over there and a bunch of rude selfish people were taking them 20 or so at a time and I got none. Our Target had some but would not match the price. 🙁

My Target did price match. That is their policy, so you should have went to their website and copied their price match policy and showed someone in management. There was no reason they shouldn’t have matched the price.

My Target also did a price match. I tried checking out at the register first & the cashier didn’t know anything about the price matching policy, another cashier kindly told me I had to do it at customer service. I had to take a copy of the Toys R Us ad with me also.

I ordered one immediately for pick-up at the store, and got it no problem whatsoever. If it’s any consolation for those of you who missed it, I’m usually in the group that misses these things, too!

I was the first person in my store that morning. My plan was to get ten as long as they had a bunch. When I got there, there were three. The shelf was completely empty. When I asked the manager about it, he said someone had ordered 100 online that morning, so they had to pull the 100 they had for that person before the store opened. I planned to give the 9 of my extra to toys for tots, which I still did with my two extra, but someone always ruins it.

My order was cancelled also but I did recieve the $5 gift code so it makes up for the cancellation will buy my kids another game.

I got one at Target, who did price match 🙂 The one we bought was the only one in the store! After going to customer service to do the price match they asked if there were more because they wanted to get some.

I was able to get 5 of them at Target during the week, but my husband is a Marine working with the Toys 4 Tots so my children 5, & 3 are going to donate 4 of them at the toy drives. And I did not clear the shelf, I made sure there were more left.

At first they told me I was going to get my order, but now they changed the status to canceled. I never got a notice on it, or a coupon for the $5 off. Maybe it will come later tonight, but as of now, nothing!

I forgot all about it until about 11:30 am . I really was lucky the Toys R Us I went to had several hundred left. I bought 12. All of them are going to my neighbor who is a teacher for her to donate at school. I hope that they make some children Happy on Christmas morning.

Because of the blogs with the need to clear shelves, majority of people were’t able to get this. All you have to do is go to Ebay to see where there went. 148 listing for a game nobody cared about before it was $1

I think people who go to buy 5+ (or order 100), are selfish couponers and give other couponers a BAD wrap! There are exceptions, like if they are truly donating these, but I doubt that is what all had in mind!

I ordered a very modest amount and they were able to fulfill my order. I kept one for my kids and are donating the rest of them (4) for Christmas.

I happened to go to Toy-R-Us the night before they went on sale & asked the clerk if they had a lot of back stock. She told me what was on the shelves was all they had but if I wanted to buy them & bring the receipt in the next day they would credit me. I bought 2 for $19.98 (1 for us, 1 for my nephew) and went in the next morning & received a $17.98 credit to my visa. I was hoping they might have some left to get as extra gifts & donations but they said they were sold out in minutes. I’m thinking they might honor this for Black Friday as well so I’m going to be doing some checking on that! Seems like cheating but so happy it worked out!

    • Nameless November 19, 2011, 8:33 AM

MY store will NOT allow any returns on Black Friday! SO most likely they will not allow you to do that! IT angered a LOT of people last year! Sad thing is most employees will not know the difference in policies for black Friday and they may say that they will in advance! I worked the service desk on black Friday last year! 🙁 It was NOT fun!!

The Store I work in had about 140 before the day started several people did the site to store option online and half were gone before the store opened… I didn’t work that day but they said they were gone super fast…

  • Becky November 20, 2011, 4:04 AM

My store had 2 pallets full of the games. I bought 6, 2 for presents, and 4 to donate to toys for tots. People were taking cart fulls. I definitely think there should have been a limit.

  • Sarah November 20, 2011, 1:16 PM

My order was also cancelled. I just wanted one for my Buzz Lightyear fanatic. I ended up going into the store around 2:00 and they said they had sold out an hour before. I wish I had gone there first but I didn’t want to drive 30 minutes to leave empty-handed.

I was glad that I got the $5 credit because last night I ordered a Rescue Heroes figure that was regularly $9.99 for $0.89 shipped (on sale for $5.99 and extra 20% off)! My younger son had actually asked for this on his Christmas list and I’m sure that both boys will get a lot more enjoyment out of it than the Operation game!

We arrived shortly after the store opened that day to find that 2 women had come in and purchased all but 3. The three they left were in damaged boxes, so I guess they weren’t good enough for them.

After the two women left, a store clerk found more in the stock room, YAY!

I bought 2 in the store that day (one for my kids, one for my nieces).

I think there should have been a limit, bad judgement call on Toys R Us’ part =[
