Donations for Year-End 2011

Last week, I gathered nearly all my free stuff from the past few months and hand delivered them to a local Goodwill donation center right here in Southern California. The nearly $700 worth of stuff included clothing, toothpaste (of course toothpaste!), women’s items, office supplies, pet food and so much more! It’s always great to give back! 🙂

I always hate to see when you don’t need things but get it anyway or tell people “could be a good donation item”. Sure it’s a great thing to donate and Goodwill will make some money off it, but that’s one less person that could have gotten it for free that wasn’t able to because you did. If you don’t want or need it, just alert others but skip signing up for the promotion yourself and give someone else a chance to get it.

As long as people dont clear the whole shelf buying things for donations, there’s nothing wrong with buying a few items to donate.

Ro – I’ve always thought of Goodwill just for clothing, home items, etc. I never thought of donating toiletries, office supplies or pet things to them. Thanks for the idea!

I was talking more the free items of limited supply than the coupons that are more widespread and are to well-stocked stores where you actively spend.
