What Would You Do: Extreme Couponers

Did you happen to watch ABC’s What Would You Do this past Friday? Well one segment was all about those extreme couponers and it was quite funny in my book. Though some of it can be reality for many of us, it’s just not for most of us. No matter what, couponing is still one of the best ways to save money. With that being said, you can watch it here!

    Hey…that’s a picture of me! 😉

It might be funny for a show like that, but it’s another way to make couponers look bad. Probably 99+% of couponers wouldn’t shop like that — we’re organized about it and try to get through the transaction as quickly as possible. Frustrating.

I thought it was a great episode. In reality, couponers aren’t that annoying. The worst case scenario that they portrayed possibly will make non-couponers think before huffing and puffing in line when coupons won’t scan or computers beep, thinking… it could always be worse! 🙂

It wasn’t so much a depiction of an extreme couponer as an unorganized, obnoxious person. Who shops while in the checkout?

That was hilarious. If I have a ton of stuff and a lot of coupons I usually tell the people behind me that my transaction may take a while. Most don’t have a problem finding another line. I don’t think most couponers and non-couponers shop while they are in line. That’s just plain rude.

I have to stay organized. I tell people behind me I might be a while and a even ready to give them a coupon for something they have if I’m not using it! That gets them engaged!

That’s rediculous. Yes, scanning coupons can take 1 or 2 extra minutes, but usually any delays are because of the cashier who doesn’t know how to use the coupon/check or doesn’t know their store’s coupon policy (or somebody who doesn’t know how to price match a bulk quantity rather than individually which takes forever). I admit that when these happen, sometimes even I get impatient!

I think most couponers want their transaction to go faster. I coupon sometimes and just the other day, I went to a store to get an item that I have a coupon for. It was a dollar off bandages. the bandages was $5. The coupon would not scan and the cashier calls the manager over. The manager takes forever to come. By that time, the line was getting longer and I felt so bad to keep people waiting because I know people have to get to places. There was only one cashier too. I was about to tell the cashier to cancel the transaction when the manager shows up. He just told the cashier to push it through without looking at the coupon. That was a waste of time and there was a lot of impatient people. Everybody don’t like it when something/someone hold up a line.
