Walmart still has straight talk whcih is unlimited everything plus data for $49.95 a month.

It’s a joke and ploy to add huge fees. I expect to be leaving Verizon this weekend. This may sound like you get to bundle devices but at 1GB you’ll burn through that in a few weeks just on one phone. Sending 5 text emails and 5 web page visits per day minimal ( nobody uses that little ) for a month puts you at 1.82gb based on their website calculator. Now add another smartphone and an Ipad and you’re easily going to reach 5-10gb. You can opt not to use the Share Everything but it now means paying full price for a phone. ($649 for iphone) Goodbye Verizon.

Sprint is the only company that still offers an unlimited data plan even with an iphone…

is it just for new customers.. what up us older customers… i have had verizon for 5 yrs now and this is the first im hearing about it.. not even something from them at this point..

You can keep the same plan but if you upgrade your phone you’ll pay full price.

      • holly June 13, 2012, 11:02 PM

Current Verizon customers must upgrade by June 28 in order to continue to be “grandfathered” in. I have AT&T because I have an iPhone and ALL I use is data. I just hope AT&T and Sprint don’t follow suit because then I guess I would go to Sprint. I agree with Joe, it will hit consumers hard and put more $$ in the pockets of Verizon.

this is available to all customersnew and old.

I too will now be leaving Verizon after 10 years. For existing customers, when you upgrade your phone – you will loose your unlimited data!!! They are going to force you to choose one of the new packages. If it weren’t for having unlimited data I might have left years ago.

I will be leaving Verizon as well. They want to hold you to their strict contract details but it sounds like they don’t want to keep their end of the bargain.

I’m wondering if I might have just slipped in under the wire… husband upgraded to the Galaxy Nexus about three weeks ago, and I just pre-ordered the Galaxy S III last week. Still same unlimited data and we got discounted prices on phones. I have made sure to keep upgrading/re-upping contract in order not to lose the unlimited data. I supposed in two years if they make us get off the unlimited data plan when our contracts are up, we can reassess at that time — but for now I’m sticking with Verizon. Can’t beat the coverage, the handset selection is the best (now that they have the latest Samsung phones as well as iPhone), and I have had good luck with customer service as well.

I to am thinking of leaving Verizon after more then 20 years! They have become way to expensive! There are other companies out there that offer the same package for half the price. I can cut my monthly phone bill in half! I have unlimited data now and if/when I upgrade and I HAVE to pick a data plan with limited data usage….I will change carriers.

The new Verizon plan goes up to 30GB for 200.00. Which is great for gamers. With unl tLk and text they are marketing to the low data users as well. The phone prices are not going to be discounted if you stay on old unlimited plan. Which means we will not be signing a Contract and can leave any time. Most countries do not subsidize the phone pricing anymore., USA one of the last countries. It will soon be the norm to pay 400.00 for a phone. But we will be able to switch carriers any time we want. Verizon knows it has best coverage, that’s why its opening this up. All carriers will have to follow.
