This is not a ‘deal,’ it’s defrauding the system. Enjoy your ill-gotten goods.

    • jeremy April 7, 2015, 11:56 PM

I agree that is a staples coupon so they dont get thier money back on it like you would with a manufactures coupon so they are taking a loss on everyone that is taken this way they would have done it at my store here but i refuse to get things when the company takes a big loss on it that is why prices are going up the way they are

  • Samantha April 8, 2015, 5:02 AM

It’s not money coming out of the employees pockets, especially with a big chain such as this. Plus include how much they mark up goods such as this, that are no longer made with quality and that you will more than likely have to replace in a year, then no it is not cheating the store or ill gotten goods. But again that is just my two cents.

    • jeremy April 8, 2015, 7:50 AM

Yes it is money out of the employees pockets when they figure up loss and sales to determine profit sharing and bonus payment that is part of the loss which lowers the amounts

      • Kelli April 8, 2015, 5:10 PM

It’s nice to know that there are still honest people out there – thank you. And it’s money out of our pockets in a much more direct way than even just lack of profit sharing and bonus payments – our labor hours are directly related to the dollars per day we make in sales. It’s one thing if the coupon were from the manufacturer, because we’d get the money back for that, but it was a Staples deal and a Staples coupon, so everyone who took advantage of this deal directly hurt someone working on the retail level of the company.

    • Kelli April 8, 2015, 5:07 PM

Yes, it actually IS money out of the employee’s pockets – when we don’t make budget in sales our hours are cut. And yes it absolutely is cheating the store because the coupon was designed to bring the in-store price down to the online price, not to be used to reduced the online price in-store to free. That’s just lunacy.

As far as how much “they” mark up goods – do you realize how much of our product we sell at a LOSS? For example, we lose money on every single computer we sell unless customers buy service plans, software, tech, etc. So when people load up on their little coupons and online deals to get their electronics for cheap we take an even bigger hit on revenue – and our hours get cut, we’re understaffed, the store goes to hell and people lose their jobs.

When I got into work today I had a line of SEVEN PEOPLE, seven shady, dishonest people who don’t want to pay an honest price for their damn coffee makers, trying to scam me out of my paycheck, AND I got yelled at, multiple times, for not honoring their attempts at theft.

But the bottom line is this – you’re costing me, personally, money. Not the “corporate bigwigs” or some faceless company – me.

I’ll take those two cents of yours you threw into the discussion to justify your shady ethics and put them in my piggy bank.

Coupon cant be used as the sale for that is part of the daily deals and they wont price match daily deals…..

  • jenn April 8, 2015, 9:52 AM

Coupon does the price matching! Regular price is 119.99 – $60 in store only coupon = $59.99 which is the price online

  • Erica April 8, 2015, 10:31 AM

The final price is $59.99 – they are not free. You cant use both the $60 price and price match to .com to get for free – it’s in their policy.

  • mmmm April 8, 2015, 10:45 AM

I would not do this deal, it is frauding Staples and I know too many people who work there, just another scam in my opinion..Why do you tell people to do this, it is not a legitimate deal, the company Staples if they would give your the brewer will be taking it in the end..don’t promote deals like this it is illegal in most states plain and simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ssssss April 8, 2015, 11:32 AM

I work at staples and you cant get it for free. You either price match to the online price or you use the coupon but you cant do both. Its not that we refuse to do it its company policy. And no we don’t hide the product for the associates. Our store only had two in stock and they sold since we had the sale price in store last week.

  • Bad4Bidness April 8, 2015, 11:51 AM

I’m an Inventory Associate for Staples. This is NOT a valid offer. The coupon is for in store use to MATCH the online price, not negate it. There has been a corporate memo sent out to the stores instructing them not to use this method. If anyone has any questions, you can call Staples’ Cross Channel service line at 800-333-3330. Thanks in advance.

  • Kristen April 8, 2015, 1:41 PM

Actually, they’ve sent out a message I all stores. The online price has the coupon already applied. Hence the actual coupon says IN STORE ONLY.

  • John April 8, 2015, 5:07 PM

i got one from the staples in my area, and they said it was a perfectly valid price match/coupon combo because there weren’t any stipulations listed on the coupon specifically prohibiting it. So I don’t know what these “supposed” staples employees posting on here are talking about.

If staples didn’t want this to happen they would have prohibited it in their coupons.

  • Stacy April 8, 2015, 6:05 PM

My daughter works at Staples and dealt with this all day today. They had to get Corporate involved and they backed them up. People were trying to use coupons and price matching to get it free. You can use one or the other, not both. Why would anyone think that a store would give items away for free? People who took advantage and actually got this deal for free are going to ruin Staples very generous price matching and coupon deals for everyone. If they took enough of a loss they may have to be more strict on their offers and everyone will lose out on great sales in the long run because of these greedy, disgusting people.

I visited 3 stores near me today that according to the website had it in stock but when I asked for it they told me they didn’t have any. When I called the other stores (without asking) they automatically told me they didn’t have any and proceeded to inform me that I couldn’t price match and use the coupon. FYI staples employees the website has updated the online price to $101.99 so it is not free. Stop hiding products from the public. Never shopping staples again. It seems like anytime they send out coupons that particular item is always out of stock.
    Never fooled again.

    • Cuntess April 8, 2015, 11:35 PM

Thanks for making your Staples store coupon unfriendly!

  • Erica April 9, 2015, 3:28 PM

“Jeremy” who ever really gets a raise these days?

  • Kid April 30, 2015, 12:19 AM

I know I’m a bit late, but I went into Staples today and this machine rang up $59.99 (101.99 on price check mode) and I was allowed to use my printable 25% off break room category coupon making it $45. I think that’s an excellent deal, but then again I don’t expect things free. Staple has an awesome return policy and then have been generous towards me in the past. Let’s not ruin that for our future purchases.
