Oh my! TLC has itself a jaw-dropping new show called Extreme Couponing, featuring four of the country’s most coupon-obsessed savers who will do anything for a deal. Their game is simple – get as MUCH as possible for as LITTLE as possible.
Extreme Couponing premieres TOMORROW, Wednesday, December 29 at 8pm ET/PT on TLC. Will you be watching? Thoughts?
(thanks @Mandy)

I think I will be watching . Love to shop with coupons.
where do they get all those coupons?!
I am going to check it out. Thanks!
oh ya, i will be watching , i seen it on ET tonight,i couldnt believe my eyes when i seen these ppl shopping, case of cereal,100"sof toothbrushes,i cant wait to watch it…
I get coupons on ebay for cheap and it takes a LOT less time to clip and sort them that way. I can easily see how it can become an addictive obsession.
stop sharing all of our coupon tips- most of us are hard core shoppers who find coupons and use coupons every few days. I save so much money that i am able to feed my family and I pay pennys on the dollars- however I do not buy more than I need- if you consider 14 toothbrushes for less than 5.00 and yes I do have plenty of paper towels and toilet paper but you never want to run out.
Thanks for the heads up :)! I will have to check this show out! I love coupons and deals 🙂 but I think too much of anything (ex: stockpiling toilet paper and Old Spice deodorant, etc so you have FOR YEARS on hand) is on the extreme side. A friend of mine helped cleaned out this hoarders house & she brought over a bag of extra toilet paper and paper-towels – and when I saw the label was from the early 1980s (and the color went from white to yellow) – opening it up had a horrible old grandmother smell and the soft products were more like crunchy towels than paper products. Stuff like that can go bad as well over-time. Not just food. It's sad to see these things go to waste.
we do the couponing and have stocked up on toothpaste/toothbrushes shampoo, deodorant, body wash, makeup…etc etc..we also give to our family who can certainly use it…called a CARE package. We have only conquered one drug store as it is time consuming..I would love to know how you can coupon on ebay when you don't know groc sale til that week of sale and its that day…
other stuff I can see but not groc.
We started out using the clear pages in binder but that is too much work then coupons you spent that much time on clipping have expired before you use them now we are going to keep each coupon insert only in one divider each
i can't wait to watch this!
I've already set my pvr to record have been using coupons for years
it's like hoarders but for coupon obsessionists. sure i want to learn some things so i can get my every day things at little to no cost, but not to be hoarding them up for some nuclear holocaust that may or may not ever happen.
Im not watching it.Im hard core couponer with a stockpile but Im not appreciative of sensationalizing the whole thing. Im not obsessed with coupons : they dont occupy the forefront of my mind.
There is a huge difference between stockpiling things that are useful and being prepared and hoarding useless junk and living in filth. You only have to live with a poor job and realestate market to understand and appreciate a years worth of food & supplies.
Stockpiling kept my family off the public dole when our salary went from 5x our mortgage to LESS than our mortgage and we spent our savings trying to stay and sell, rather than letting our problem become the banks problem. In the end we lost our house but we never went hungry or without basics. All that to say – unless you have some special exception, we all need to be prepared to take care of ourselves and others.
Most of the crazy coupon ladies that I know would give you what you needed in a heartbeat.
I watched the show in horror. A lady had most of the rooms in her house used as storage for all her junk she'll never be able to use. She's even taking over her spineless husband's space. She spent (wasted) a day 1/2 to plan her coupons and shopping spree then hours at the grocery store buying crap full of sugar, high fructose corn syrup, salt etc. basically cheap ingredients that make you fat and ill. And yes, she and her husband are obese. They bought $1000 worth of junk (9 carts full) for something like $50. It's good she saved so much money as she'll need it to pay for all her medical bills down the rode when she and her husband are dying from diabetes and other poor eating related illnesses. And she'll need the extra money to pay for her house-sized pantry. It's so sad how stupid people can be. So obsessed with saving a bit of money and putting their health, relationships and quality of life in jeopardy.
I thought I was crazy buying 12 boxes of pasta at a time, but 218??? Come on…think of the worms! These people r mentally unstable as far as I'm concerned.
I use coupons, and I watched the show, but I still don't understand how they were able to buy so much for so little! The show didn't really teach me anything I didn't already know. What are the real secrets to the free stuff?
I watched the show and was amazed at what I saw I hope that there is more to follow or atleast some more tips on how to do this…. with prices these days and everything I would love more of this show… I clip coupons every sunday and have coupons sent to me but to spend 600 at the store and only pay 20 I am there……..please give me more…..
Steven Cox, what the heck is that supposed to mean that now your secret is out? People have known about coupons for years. Also, try and learn now to spell a little better, it's "pennies" not "pennys". Maybe if you could spell, you could get a good job and wouldn't worry about coupons and who is using them. Agreed about Amanda, she is morbidly obese and buys candy bars 150 at a time, not to mention all the sugary Gatorade and Pepperidge Farm cookies. None of these people bought anything healthy and they basically just emptied the shelves of anyone who came to get a toothbrush or hand soap. Selfish.
I would like to learn more on using coupons. I just don't understand the process, maybe it's a loophole of using multiple coupons for the same item? I guess I will have to watch the show.
I’m thinking that these people that are saving that much money live where they honor double coupons. I never see stores in Illinois that honor double coupons. Does anyone know of any?
I was a bit confused at this show – when was it filmed? For the past 15 or so years, all the coupons I’ve seen state explicitly 1 coupon per visit, yet it was obvious they were using the same coupon 50-200 times somehow. Not only that, but as Elizabeth pointed out, it was all processed corn syrup/salty nutrition-less “packaged garbage”. I also noticed it all seemed to be packaged excessively, as in very small portions (rather than bulk with little to no waste).
I’ll admit, the paper towels and *some* cleaning products make sense, but these folks were hoarding $50,000 worth of toxic poisons that would take 1 person hundreds of years to use (and most would be of questionable quality in 10-20 years) – and still they ended up paying a few $grand for it… I’d rather spend a few $grand a year, and buy quality produce and whole grain product, with little/no salt/corn syrup (and avoid the 70 hours/week googling/clipping/dumpster diving).
I’ve had a roll of tin foil and another of plastic wrap for literally 10 years, that I haven’t yet used up – I can’t see having 50-100 of each of them, talk about overconsumption and excessive landfill waste. There was that one obese guy who bragged about getting 1,000 rolls of toilet paper, that he used up in 3 years. WTF?!? That’s either some very low grade TP, or that guy was burning through a roll a day… And I’m assuming all that “free” cleaning agent they get is the ultra toxic crap that shouldn’t be flushed down the drain (and may soon be illegal to do so) – i.e. the stuff that’s at the $1 store.
I’ll admit, I’ve gotten quite a lot of very high grade dog food (grade 4 on scale of 5/6 – meat products primarily, with whole brown rice), in 4-6lb packages, for free lately, using coupons and store cards. But I didn’t buy 300 years worth of kibble for my 8.5lb dog, LOL!!! And, I’m not too concerned that grade 5/6 requires potatoes instead of rice (I’ll never feed my dog that GMO corn sh! again).
