  • colette March 6, 2011, 12:14 PM

The three R’s of recycling: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. I use these words to teach my children how to reduce waste and help save our planet. In return they will teach their children and so on from there. If we teach our children to respect the planet they will in turn teach theirs. That is how we are helping repair the damage to our planet from past generations. It is not enough to do it ourselves. We have to educate future generations.

  • candy k March 6, 2011, 12:17 PM

I’ve recycled those large dry cat food bags into my official recycle bags. I stapled on handles and hang them in the broom closet. There’s one for plastic water bottles–one for aluminum, one for glass, and one for all other plastics like shampoo bottles etc. Every few months I take them to the recycling center and use the little bit of cash to buy plants and soil. Win-win! 🙂

  • Mari Meas March 6, 2011, 12:35 PM

I put a recycling box in every room in the house! When I’m outside, I hold onto my empty bottles and finished newspapers until I come Across a recycling receptacle every ~3-5 blocks in the city.

    I follow you on fb

  • Tracy Ronnermann March 6, 2011, 12:37 PM

I am an obsessive recycler. My car is a recycle bin to the embarrassment of my children. I compost food scraps and such inside in a worm bin as well as taking much out to the compost bin in yard that also takes neighborhood grass clippings. I use a push mower and rake. Inside I use CFL bulbs and recycle bottles, cans, newspapers and junk mail. I reuse take out containers at least once if not more. I have re-usable coffee mugs that I take to meetings and such. I use cloth napkins and only run my small counter top dishwasher when really full. I collect rainwater to use in my garden as well as not maintaining a green lawn but have planted a meadow to attract birds and bugs. I could go on but I think I am looking annoying. I try to educate students and neighbors to recycle correctly as well. Pick me so I can finally replace some of my stuff I have been re-using beyond its normal life span. THX!!

  • Traci Brown March 6, 2011, 12:38 PM

I recycle plastic grocery bags and plastic soda bottles.

  • Dawn Gray March 6, 2011, 12:55 PM

Love Coupon Pro & like it on FB.

In our household we try to recycle as much as we can. Also, we try to use items that are reusable as much as possible and won’t just be thrown out. I am also teaching my children to recycle and take them with us when we drop off newspapers, magazines, aluminum, etc. My 9 year old is very big on water conservation already and always reminds us to turn the water off while we are brushing our teeth. I think that the best thing a parent can do to recycle is to teach it to their children.

I clip coupons every weekend, and I cut out all products. Then I choose the ones my family will use and take all the rest to my coworkers. We swap coupons and bargain tips and have a friendly competition of “who got the biggest sale” each week!

  • Hayley Hyman March 6, 2011, 8:21 PM

After complaining to our property management several times without any results, we continue to take all recyclables down the street…I still don’t understand why some people don’t care about having a healthy planet…

  • Nikki Kirchhoff March 6, 2011, 8:30 PM

I liked coupon Pro on face book. I go the extra mile by recyling everything fron cans to magazines and news paper.

  • mindy March 6, 2011, 8:58 PM

I collect our plastics and paper before they are thrown in the garbage.

  • Holly Cirillo March 6, 2011, 9:02 PM

We use plastic and glass recycling containers at our house in order to recycle both materials from home and work, and recycle all cardboard boxes from home and work as well! :0)

  • connie enderle March 6, 2011, 9:40 PM

We try to reuse aluminum pans til they can’t be used anymore!

  • Anne F. March 6, 2011, 9:43 PM

I keep reusable bags in my car so I never need to use plastic. I also separate all my mail and recycle whatever I can. We use a Brita filter at home and use Camelbak water bottles to the gym and work. I use my own coffee mug at work and when I order coffee or tea at the coffee shop. I try to reuse my aluminum foil and paper bags as much as possible. When I get gift bags/boxes or wrapping paper, I open them carefully so I can reuse! We need to make the world a better and cleaner place, even if just one person at a time.

  • Amy Valdez March 6, 2011, 9:45 PM

Because I noticed our neighbors do not recycle, I asked them to keep what could be recycled aside so I can recycle it for them. It frustrates me that something so simple is not done by everyone. I save containers and donate them to schools to store paints, etc. We do a lot of extra things to recycle/reuse/reduse.

  • Richa Verma March 6, 2011, 9:48 PM

I save our plastic bags and reuse them and I recycle our cans.

  • Maria F March 6, 2011, 10:37 PM

I go the extra step to recycle by first limiting the amount I have to recycle in the first place.. I try to do this by purchasing “green products.” Of course this isn’t always easy so the next best thing I do is try to reuse what I have in various ways, such as I have learned can’s make cute and rustic looking flower pots and shredded paper is GREAT (not to mention inexpensive) for liner for my animal cages and litter boxes. Whatever I cannot find a need for and is in decent condition I donate to the local thrift shop, so many people are into crafts and making homemade improvements to their homes so this makes for a perfect way to reuse items.

  • Tiffany Overall March 6, 2011, 10:39 PM

I like you on FB (Tiffany Overall). I take my own bags to the grocery store and also, for Christmas I bought everyone in the office new coffee mugs so we dont have to use the Styrofoam cups anymore for coffee and water.

  • Nikki Kaminski March 6, 2011, 11:08 PM

  • Denise March 7, 2011, 12:31 AM

I go the extra mile by watching what others put into the garbage cans and if it is to be recycled I take it out and put it into the recycling bin. I reuse plastic bags as can liners, and baby wipe containers are used for items I need down the road later and don’t want misplaced, several cans are decorated and used for pens and pencils. There is almost always something that can be re-used for something useful!

  • Travis D March 7, 2011, 12:37 AM

  • Shannon M. March 7, 2011, 9:11 AM

I like Coupon Pro on Twitter. I go the extra step to recycle by having a container on my counter next to the trash can that we use to put all of our recycling in. That way there are no excuses as to not recycling an item.

  • Kim Chance March 7, 2011, 9:18 AM

I have taught my two kids ages 6 and 2 to look for the recycle symbol on packaging. They will even look for it on a piece of trash they see at the park.

  • Jessica Bailey March 7, 2011, 9:57 AM

I have taught my kids to recycle anything we can, buy as much recycled stuff as we can, use green products and save electricity. It’s not much, but it sure helps out.

i looooooove coupon pro on fb! I make a point of putting things to the side to recycle at friend’s houses (cans, bottles, etc) to encourage the ones who don’t to start. We’ve also completely stopped using paper/plastic bags and try to buy plastics that have already been recycled.

  • MM Attinger March 7, 2011, 10:16 AM

The place I live doesn’t have recycling pick-up so I go the extra step of gathering, cleaning and separating my recyclables and taking it to my friend’s house where they do have a recycle program.

  • Carolyn March 7, 2011, 10:39 AM

I just try to be conscious of what I buy and getting the most out of it. We pass on the kids clothes to other families, recycle and reuse as much as possible, donate to Goodwill, etc. For a family of 3, we generally have 1 bag of trash a week and only have 2 if we are doing a deep clean of bedrooms or the basement a few times a year. I subscribe via your newsletter and like you on Facebook. Thanks for the giveaway!

  • Matthew White March 7, 2011, 11:47 AM

We have been recycling for about 10 years now. We now look for recyclable packaging when we go shopping. As we have continued we now recycle 3 times as much as we throw away.

  • Anna March 7, 2011, 12:27 PM

I like Coupon Pro on Facebook! A couple of the things I do to recyle: I reuse unrecyclable plastic containers as soap molds, and use a water filter/reuasable bottle combo instead of buying water.

  • Debbi March 7, 2011, 1:11 PM

I reuse the plastic bags for…..

  • nicole franetovich March 7, 2011, 6:54 PM

We recycle in many ways.. We recycle all possible from our household trash through our city blue trash, green waste either in our compost bin or our city green trash, All cardboard, paper, toilet paper rolls, food cans, all types of plastics we take to a drop off center down the road for recycling. Everything that still has a bit of life left in it gets posted on freecycle a yahoo group dedicated to keeping things out of the landfills. We use reuseable shopping bags, we do not buy nor use disposable items, we use towels instead of napkins or paper towels and We used cloth diapers with all 3 of our children. We are going green in as many ways possible and recycling is one of them. I want to encourage anyone reading this comment to look up your local freecycle yahoo group and get involved. Blessings!!
