PIER 1 IMPORTS: My $0.58 Candle Set + Reader Pics!

Wahoo! So of course you remember the amazing Pier 1 Imports $10 off $10 coupon posted yesterday (no longer available)? Well me and my friend headed out there around 11 AM yesterday morning. It seemed like we beat the coupon rush. We searched around and found lots of items under $10 including candles mugs, air fragrance sets and I even found a pillow originally priced $38 for ONLY $8 bucks. We almost bought a air fragrance set but than I saw this AWESOME candle set pictured above. I couldn’t believe it! Originally priced at $18, it was on sale for $8 bucks plus I threw in two candles to bring my total over $10 bucks and I ended up paying….

FINAL COST: $0.58! 😀

I got 3 coupons and took my hubby and son shopping. This is what we got for $4.32. Thanks so much!

NEWS: P&G raises U.S. Pampers, Bounty and Charmin prices

P&G brand

“Procter & Gamble Co confirmed on Monday that it is raising prices on Pampers diapers and wipes, Bounty paper towels and Charmin toilet paper in the United States, as it faces soaring costs for energy and materials.

Here’s the break down:

  • PAMPERS: Diapers prices up 7%, wipes prices up 3%
  • BOUNTY: Prices up 5%
  • CHARMIN: Prices up 5%

The latest moves come about a month after P&G announced plans to raise U.S. detergent prices 4.5 percent.

Rival Kimberly-Clark Corp said on Monday that materials, energy and transportation are set to cost more than twice as much as it expected this year. It already announced price increases on Huggies diapers, wipes, training pants and some toilet paper in March.”

One thing I learned in my business classes in college is when prices go up, they tend to stay there for while. Basically, it’s easier for prices to go up then come down. Thoughts?? 🙁

Just wanted to say “THANKS!”…

Yay! I’m elated to announce that March 2011 was Coupon Pro Blog’s highest traffic month ever!!! I’m not here to brag but I really wanted to thank each and every one of my readers for taking the time out of YOUR day to visit my blog (and hopefully I’m helping you and your family save some money at the same time! 😉 ). I’m thankful for your continued support and for you helping spread the word about Coupon Pro to your family and friends. I love what I do and glad I could share the excitement of finding samples, coupons, deals and freebies with you!

I want to do so much for you guys but my hands are tied because, as you know, I run Coupon Pro all by myself and seemly enough, it’s starting to get more than I could handle alone. With that being said, I hope I’ll be able to offer even more exciting content for you guys in the near future!

Love y’all so much,

New Study Reveals Who Has Lower Prices: Walmart or Target?

I thought this was quite interesting… A retail consulting firm Customer Growth Partners has come out with a new study today revealing Target’s prices are in-fact lower than No. 1 retailer Walmart.

Heres how it worked: 35 brand-name items consisting of 22 common grocery goods such as milk, cereal and rice; 10 general merchandise products such as clothing and home furnishings; and three health and beauty items were purchased at Walmart and Target stores in New York, Indiana and North Carolina.

  • Target shopping cart (pre-tax): $269.13
  • Walmart shopping cart (pre-tax): $271.07

“For the first time in four years, our price comparisons between the two has shown that Target has a slight edge over Wal-Mart,” said Johnson. A smaller study by Kantar Retail found similar results.

Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said, “We are absolutely committed to offering our customers low prices every day. If customers find a lower advertised price, we’ll match it every time.”

Though it’s important to note that according to Johnson, “Target isn’t beating Wal-Mart on all items but it is on those that really matter to consumers.”

Thoughts? Discuss below.

(thanks @CNNMoney and @Jeanette for the heads up)

AT&T Now Offering Unlimited Calling to ANY Mobile Number

Well, well, well… AT&T is wondering how to keep customers, now that Verizon has the iPhone, so they are pulling out Unlimited Calling to ANY Mobile Number:

Individual plans:

  • AT&T Nation 450 (minutes) and 900 REQUIRED- $20 per month for unlimited messaging on individual plan, which now gives you UNLIMITED calling to ANY mobile number.

Family plans:

  • AT&T FamilyTalk 700 (minutes) or Higher REQUIRED – $30 per month for unlimited messaging on entire plan (up to 5 lines), which now gives you UNLIMITED calling to ANY mobile number.

For example, I’m in a family plan and paying $25 for text message ($20 for unlimited on one phone and $5 for 200 texts on another phone) but now I simply pay $5 more and get unlimited text messaging on BOTH phones and unlimited calling to ANY mobile number. 🙂
