I thought this was quite interesting… A retail consulting firm Customer Growth Partners has come out with a new study today revealing Target’s prices are in-fact lower than No. 1 retailer Walmart.
Heres how it worked: 35 brand-name items consisting of 22 common grocery goods such as milk, cereal and rice; 10 general merchandise products such as clothing and home furnishings; and three health and beauty items were purchased at Walmart and Target stores in New York, Indiana and North Carolina.
- Target shopping cart (pre-tax): $269.13
- Walmart shopping cart (pre-tax): $271.07
“For the first time in four years, our price comparisons between the two has shown that Target has a slight edge over Wal-Mart,” said Johnson. A smaller study by Kantar Retail found similar results.
Wal-Mart spokesman David Tovar said, “We are absolutely committed to offering our customers low prices every day. If customers find a lower advertised price, we’ll match it every time.”
Though it’s important to note that according to Johnson, “Target isn’t beating Wal-Mart on all items but it is on those that really matter to consumers.”

It’s baaaack… The highly anticipated season premier of Extreme Couponing will air on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 9/8c only on TLC. When a premier 1-hour episode aired last December, the show drew an impressive 2.1 million viewers and had everyone buzzing. TLC was so impressed that they have ordered 12 new episodes for our enjoyment. Yipppe!
